I prefer this restaurant vs El Parral which is in the same parking lot. The food is better, the menu has more choices and the service is A LOT better. Tacos are amazing here and the beer is always cold!

Food here is sub-par. I ordered the combo plate #7. The taco was Tacobell style - crunchy taco shell and mushy "ground beef." The chicken burrito was soupy and the flour tortilla was soggy. My chips were kind of stale and the salsa was meh. On the up side, the environment is nice and the hostess was particularly friendly and helpful.

I am soooooo picky about my Mexican food being hispanic and all I know more or less what authentic Mexican food should taste like. This place was simply amazing; the food was wonderful, the service was perfect and the atmosphere was light and friendly. I ordered the Mexican Hamburger with horchata to drink and I have no complaints! Everything was delicious :) although it wasnt my grandmothers mexican cooking it was pretty close! Definitely a restraunt I will go back to when I am in Denver!

So far so good. The service is very attentive and friendly. Lots of generic beers on tap. The mole here is very tasty, better than most restaurants in Colorado. The "street" tacos are pretty good though far from the best. The rice is good but tends to be a little overcooked. The beans are unremarkable. Worth coming back and trying again :)

Today was the opening. They were doing free buffett from 11am to 3pm. The food was good. On the buffett were enchiladas, make your own soft ground beef tacos, yummy green chili and taquitos. The chips and salsa they gave upon arrival were very good. Loved the salsa. Nice and fresh tasting. We paid only for our drinks. I will say the buffett could have been replenished faster but at least the food was good. I will go back. Saw about 1/2 the people were ordering right off the menu and the plates looked appetizing. They were also huge portions. if I didn't have to come nback to work i would have ordered a Margarita. You choose what you want and the size. There was plenty of fish and shrimp items. The steak itmes look good and not too expensive. A T-Bone for 15.75. Breakfast is served all day. They serve menudo but no chillaquilles. That is a bummer for me. I love them. Plus the Mariaichis playing and singing were quite good. I guess thats all for me but I think it is worth a stop next time your in my area. Hopefully you won't be disappointed.

I don't know why this place has so many bad reviews because we went there last night and the food was great plus the service was fantastic....

This place is okay. You typical mexican restaurant. They give you pretty decent sized portions for the $. The margaritas are okay. Had the chile rellano burrito and got a guac salad. Both were good. The guac was just okay. I have had better could have used a little more flavoring. This place however has some grat patio action going on. They did a really good job of redoing the old Bennigans. Will eat here again because it is typical mexican and in a good location.

The service was friendly and prompt. The food isn't too bad, though much too pricey for what it is. My biggest gripe comes from the drinks. I ordered a large top shelf margarita, which was ~$15 and there wasn't an ounce of actual alcohol in it. I didn't like spending so much on a chalice of mixer and ice.

  • Jason L.

Its good. Been there a couple of times now. I would say it is on the expensive side ($11) though they have lunch specials and such. I got the steak tacos al carbon. They are fan-freakin-tastic!! Their chips and salsa are also good 7/10. Not gourmet, not street style - Good typical American Mexican food,

  • Daniel J.

Great salsa, and one of the best chili rellenos I've had. Yum!

  • Rachel W.

Terrible. Just terrible. Low quality food and our entire group of 8 got sick. The waiter barely payed attention to us and was slightly a jerk. I will never go back. If you want crappy food and a crappy morning, this is your place! One star is too many

If you're a Mexican food novice, this place isn't bad, but it has little to no real flavor. It's missing it's soul. Staff is so-so, just like the food. I ordered a combo- cheese enchilada, guacamole tostada, chile relleno, and taco. Taco was just ground beef, not bad, but not great. The shell was out of a box, like their tortilla chips. The cheese enchilada was blah, the sauce tasted like it was out of a can, but canned sauce generally has more flavor, so it probably is homemade as they say. With the tostada, the "guacamole" was just smashed avocado- no salt, no lime, no flavor. Good avocados, but certainly not guacamole. The chile relleno was the best- but the chile did all the work (not spicy, but very flavorful). Being from California, this place did not measure up, but the table next to me was raving that their meal was amazing- so if you're from the west, skip it, but if you have a Midwest palate, you'll probably like it.

I've been here several times, and not only are the prices are great, the service is fantastic! They are quick too, so it's great for the DTC lunch crowd.

  • Tommy M.

I went here for a work lunch since my buddy said it was good. I had some sort of combo plate and it was pretty below average Mexican food. Everything was over-salted, uninspired, and they used low quality ingredients. I lived in Santa Fe for a while so I am very picky when it comes to Mexican (and New Mexican) food. They tried to make up for their subpar food by giving huge portions but I'd rather not spend the calories on low quality Mexican grub. Their margarita prices seemed pretty cheap, but I assume they skimp on the tequila based on the prices. When we went to get our bill it took them 20 MINUTES to figure out how to split up our bill and they will got it wrong. Avoid this place.

  • Court Z.

Pretty average Mexican food. Portions are excessively large. Ordered a medium margarita and it was the biggest thing I've ever seen in my life, although very watered down. Service was good. I'll go to my other local options next time.

Good: Close to the hotel, Upbeat Ambience Bad: Waiter's food knowledge and customer service in general. I'm in town for a business training. I looked around for a Mexican restaurant. I found this restaurant near by but had low rating (well, less than what I'd like to see in my restaurant)... I was like, should i or should i not.. I decided to give it a try. Upon arrival at the front door, 2 girls and 2 guys were chatting casually and they really didn't look professional at all. I figured they were like family members who really don't care for the business. Bad start.. Chips and salsa came out right away and I like that. Salsa was tasty. Waiter's name was Juan Man. I felt like having a soup. I usually get chicken or meatball soup, but the restaurant doesn't have them. He recommended seafood soup. I thought for a moment and decided to give it a try. Before I ordered, I asked specifically if the soup is red color indicating that it might be spicy. Juan Man affirmed that it was not, and that it's like a vegetable soup with seafood. Guess what. It came out red and it was super spicy. Juan Man apparently never seen or tasted this dish and tried to make a recommendation. When the dish came out, I was like, "It's red!!". Juan man said, "Well.. it's sort of red, but not really.". Oh come on, really!! He mentioned that soup is already made & he couldn't do much. He took it back and try to make it right, but still it was completely different than how he described. I miss my home town food! Big shame goes to owner. Owner!!!! Train your staff!!!

Bad. Really bad. First when we were Sat the hostess knocked over a glass vase and never bothered to clean it up. We sat with our feet in glass and had a baby with us that could have cut his feet. It took at least 10 minutes to get someone over for drinks and then said it was too late for happy hour by a few seconds. Nope. .. the computer says it's to late, can't do happy hour pricing even if you were here 15 minutes ago said the manager. Food was average at best. Go to the Mexican restaurant behind this one instead! The poor busser girl was trying to hold it all together. We gave the tip to her.

    (2)
  • Joe S.

This restaurant is disappointing. The food -- all their food, as near as I can tell -- is far too spicy to be edible, and we are people who usually like spicy food. They seem unable to tone it down, even if you ask nice. Overall, they seem cheap -- small portions, charging extra for more tortilla chips, and absolutely no extras. It is expensive, as far as Mexican food goes, and even their margaritas are inconsistent. We wanted to like it, but finally had to quit going there.

Great food, great service. Highly recommend. Very surprised and delighted. Hubby had carnitas and I had a customized combo plate. Chips and salsa great.

  • Yesenia B.

The Molcajete Tapatio is AMAZING! It's meant to be shared but be prepared to share it with 3 people and be in a delicious food coma afterwards! I often go here for lunch since I work down the street and they have always been great to me! I love the flautas especially with beef. Service is okay, a little training would boost that very quickly. Margaritas are delicious and a great deal for the price!

  • Nick A.

Average Mexican food, not much taste. I had cheese enchilada, Chile relleno and a smothered burrito combo plate. It came to me warm at best. My server must have really disliked his job as I only saw him once during the meal until I asked another server for my bill. There are at least 2 to 4 other Mexican restaurants within a mile of here. I would check them out first.

    (2)
  • Brad L.

This place is ghetto. We showed up late on a Friday night but there were way too many people on the floor to account for how long it took them to serve us. This is super typical tex mex but the chips and salsa are good.

    (1)
  • Jeff B.

Carne Adobada! If you like Mexican food with a lot of meat and red sauce or great chili verde check them out. If I recall this used to be a Bennigans that i never liked but El Tapatio gets my lunch biz. Quick, hot and served authentically. Somehow I just feel better when my order is taken and served by la gente que son del pais. I'm looking forward to dinner there. Hard not to have a Dos Equis or Modelo with good spicy food.

    (4)
  • Allison H.

Service was great, food was average. If you aren't used to amazing Mexican food then you'll enjoy this place but otherwise it's nothing great. It tastes slightly massed produced.

    (2)
  • Sean B.

Probably one of the best Mexican restaurants I have ever been to. The chips and Salsa are awesome, the service is great, and the food is extremely good and reasonably priced with healthy portions. Nice music in the background, genuine happy people people here both customers and staff. I would highly recommend it.

I went to El Tapatio for dinner about 2 weeks after they opened. I'm sure I've been to a different location but I can't recall when, so this was like a new restaurant. The Greenwood Village location was recently converted from an old Bennigans. They did a really great job on the remodel. The inside looks all brand new, with a really cool bar. No doubt they re-used some of the old Bennigans furnishings but I could not tell what. It absolutely does not look like an old revamped Bennigans. I had the steak fajitas, and my wife had huevos rancheros. The food was good, and the service was excellent. Next time I go back I'll order something more adventurous. They have a very wide menu of seafood and steaks, including crab legs, lobster and oysters. Normally I'd be a little leery of ordering oysters at a family mexican restaurant. But we were there at 5:30 on a Saturday and the place was pretty busy. It looked like they were selling fish and oysters, so they're probably fresh. Last thing you want is to order oysters at a place that serves five orders of oysters a week. TL;DR Good all around for a family friendly mexican restaurant. No doubt they'll be successful with good food, good drink specials and great service.

I took my son to El Tapatio for lunch. I had a combo plate. The very minuscule portions of meat contained within the combo plate had some over cooked rock hard pieces that were flavorless. I had to spit them out. I asked my server what the issue was with the platter, and he told me that was how the "pork" was supposed to be served. It seemed really hard and/or dry and non appealing to me. Plus the food seemed flavorless and had extra amounts of grease. I have had better Mexican food at an airport. I won't be going back.

    (1)
  • Carey L.

Please don't let the bad reviews scare you away. This is the best we've found so far. The salsa and chips are fabulous. I could eat my weight in them! My son loves the El Tapatio burrito. I love the steak tacos Americano. The steak is so tender which is uncommon. The margaritas are slightly overpriced but I'm not a big drinker anyway. Give it a try for yourself!

  • Beau T.

Good for Gluten sensitive people! Food was great, but most importantly for me, the server was knowledgeable about gluten allergies and which foods were appropriate for me to eat as someone with gluten sensitivity. The person who brought the chips and salsa knew the chips were corn chips and ok for me as well. Excellent service and safe place for me to eat. I will be back!

Remember one thing when you come here - Javier, the great bartender that makes a KILLER marg! Ok, so there's other stuff to remember too, like the food which is pretty darn good. The Chimichanga is as good as I've had in Denver & big enough to feed two, the salsa's are flavorful (if not a bit hot), & the beer selection is superb!

    (4)
  • Suzi B.

Great food and very friendly service from the hostesses, servers and bartenders. Even mgmt makes a point of saying high to us

  • Kathy K.

Really? They consider this a happy hour? I had never been at the restaurant but there was a huge sign outside "happy hour specials" waiter said $1 off wine, beer and margs. I ordered a Chard KJ at 6.95 - ,my friend ordered a marg. Happy Hr was between 3-6 pm, we were there at 3p on Mon. Only people in the bar - staff was busy watching the game - we didn't care. Waiter brought us new drinks and said he made a mistake and that the KJ Chard was not on HH just the house wine and he would take care of it. Guess what - we got the bill and there was no HH special = even on the house wine, previous waiter left for the day - new waitress said wine is not on HH. She had to "call" the manager to confirm that only beer and margs were on special (we were charged full price on marg also a miscommunication). Finally after several phone calls they reduced our bill by $4 for the Happy Hour special - clueless! If they think this will draw people in they are mistaken! For the special price of $5 I will head over to Flemings or some where where our business is wanted. I don't know about you but when the waiter tells me what the HH special is I assume he knows - there is "NO" printed material. Staff is clueless, Manager not on site - nor would he talk to us. We were their "only" customers! Suggestion - DON"T GO!!! Poor service and staff clueless regarding the huge sign out front regarding the "special Happy Hour". We won't be back - (Not even a "I'm sorry about the confusion") and we are great tippers!

Boyfriend and I love this place. Its one of our regulars now. We get the taco sampler plate, its 5 tacos with different meats. One of them is tripe so we ask to substitute that one with the Carnitas which is delicious! Tacos don't have any cheese on them, they are light. I have also ordered the chimichanga and t get more than one meal out of it. Service is very friendly though sometimes a little slower (just a little). Salsa is great too, does have some kick to it. Place is yummy.

    (4)
  • Eddie H.

Good green chile. Beans are nice and flavorful. Salsa has a bit too much cilantro for my taste. Overall pretty good Mexican food.

  • Mark W.

First and last time to try this restaurant. We had high hopes based on the menu but our hopes were soon dashed. We were seated immediately and our drink order was taken and delivered quickly. Then we waited over 15 minutes for our waiter to appear. He was very friendly and took our order. Then we waited another 25 minutes for our food to arrive. Someone other then our original waiter dropped off our food and that was the last we saw of anyone. The hostess did stop by once to refresh our drinks. We had been finished with our meal for 20 minutes when our waiter reappeared and asked if we were ready for our check. Again, he was very friendly. Waited another 15 minutes until he showed up with our bill. Again with a friendly smile. Not sure why it ended up taking one and a half hours to have a meal? On top of the SLOW service the food was just okay. Have had much better at other places. We won't be returning here.

  • Dennis P.

Good authentic Mexican food. Several unique. Will also put your favorite sports team on a close by tv. Top shelf margaritas are a bargin by the pitcher. Bacon wrapped shrimp are good as well as the fish tacos and quesidias special.

  • CLaudine F.

I went for lunch a few times and had the green chili plate for $4.99. It's really good and the price is right! I think the salsa is way too hot, but I will go back to try other things. It appeared to be a nice place to go to dinner/drinks/happy hour.

    (3)
  • Sally C.

The food here is very good, the service is not. Last time we went, we ordered drinks and then had to wait almost 10 minutes for the waiter to come back so we could order food. It was not even crowded, he kept walking by doing other things and checking on other tables instead. I would recommend their avocado tostada's and cheese enchiladas. Both were really good, I will be back here! Their Chili rellenos are pretty good as well. The first time I came here I tried the veggie burrito and that was not very good at all. Just grilled vegetables in a tortilla with some sauce over it. No beans, rice, cheese, anything to make it stand out. Very bland and not very good. I wouldn't recommend that.

    (4)
  • IB V.

Food was probably two star qualify but the ambience was decent and the servers were real nice. The salsa was too runny and the camarones ala diabla sauce wasn't made with habaneros sadly. Thinking about giving it another shot while I'm working here.

    (3)
  • Paul F.

I'm not a huge Mexican food fan but I like this place. The food is good and the portions are right.

    (4)
  • Josh C.

    One word....Chicharonnes!

    (4)
  • S M.

This place is HOT! As in spicy. Which, if that is what you are looking for, this is your place. The salsa is hot. The green chili is hot. And even the queso is hot. There aren't any options for mild. Therefore, it didn't suit my taste. But the service was good. Lunch specials were reasonably priced.

    (3)
  • Anne M.

The food was good and the bar had a large selection of draft beer. The service was very good and the wait staff very friendly. Unfortunately the place was lit up like a cafeteria. We requested they dim the lights, but our waiter couldn't seem to figure out how to do that. I would think they would sell more alcohol if they dim those lights, especially in the evening. I would like to go back, but not with the glaring lights. It's hard to create a cozy atmosphere when the lighting is so bright.

  • Brian B.

Hey i like the concept this place has in taking an old Bennigans and converting into a Mexican spot. The food is good but hey this is Colorado and I dont think there is a 5 star Mexican joint in this state. The house Margarita is the best way to evaluate a place and they have one of the better ones in the area. So i do advise anyone to check the place out. Oh and its a great place to watch a football game while eating the place to filled with HD sets... Go Broncos

    (4)
  • Lynda T.

Absolutely the worst Mexican food I have ever had. Chili Relleno was so hard to even cut with the knife and after i put it in my mouth I had to spit it out. It was so chewy. Not only that, my whole plate was served luke warm. I told waiter about chewy relleno and brought a new one smothered in green chili- that didn't help. Still too tough. I suspect they make them, freeze them, and the serve them when ordered trying to soften with the hot chili. I will never return. Also walking into the place a faint smell of a leaking sewer was present. ICK~ :(

    (1)
  • K J.

I love this place, the salsa is outstanding! They serve large portions so there is a lot to take home. I go once a week and usually order the fajitas which are really good but they could season the meat better, because without the salsa it's really bland the next day.

    (4)
  • Lisa M.

I would give this place 0 stars if it would allow me. The food was DISGUSTING. Greasy nasty and just gross. Like they had to WORK to get Mexican food that bad. It is pretty hard to mess up let alone be that terrible. The sopapilla was a flat, greasy, piece of dough. Then there was the service you think that having the MANAGER as your server would mean you would get above average service...Nope. He never once came to our table to ask us how the food was...then we waited for 20 mins after our dessert was finished and he had still not come to our table to drop off the check finally we had to flag someone down to hand her our credit card. The drinks we saw getting served were the size of fishbowls that is the only way I could see this place getting a good review, people being too drunk to taste how terrible the food was. When you're drunk everything tastes good...I will never return. Not to mention it takes A LOT for me to give a bad food review and being a server I empathize for waitstaff.. but this...was just bad

Lightening fast service...seated, waited on, and served immediately. Large food and drink menu. They have molcajetes! Nice sized patio will come in handy this summer.

  • Tim E.

Let me preface by saying I've only been here once. First impression was so-so. The service was fine and the chips and salsa were okay, nothing to get excited about. I ordered horchata and an enchilada plate. While I waited I noticed the bizarre American pub setting. The restaurant outlay was like an Applebee's with a bar in the center, wood paneling and not really Mexican decorated. The horchata was huge and good, the enchilada plate was not very exciting. Dinner for two with soft drinks, horchata, Sopapia only cost $26. service-4/5 atmosphere-3/5 food 2/5 price 5/5

Our server took forever to take our order. Food was served in a reasonable time. Food quality was "ok" Server took forever to process our bill/payment and charged an incorrect/excessive amount to my credit card. I was offered cash for the difference to serve as refund but I insisted on having the wrong amount voided and the correct amount run through. The corrective action took forever as well. Not a great experience...

The food came out with poor quality and no attention to detail. Over garnished the plate.

This place sucks. Is there not one good and authentic Mexican restaurant in Denver? There are better taquerias in Detroit. Seriously. The corn tortillas came out barely cooked. the rice was hard. the ambience is totally fake. They have framed pictures of Mexican artists and yet they play night club music. ...And then, when I asked them to play something Mexican, the culero puto de maricon mamon de verga in the red shirt changed it back to night club music, which must be his personal preference. at least put some Maná on. I've had it with this place. I've gone here twice because I try to give every joint a second chance but it fell flat once again. No more will I spend my hard earned money is this pit. all it is is generic Mexican food. Next time, I will give El Parral a chance. Although, I'm jaded now. I am of the mindset that there are no good Mexican joints here in this town. Other than that, Denver is a great place. I would never judge it on the quality of the Mexican restaurants therein, but it is disappointing. All I need is one Jalisco style taquería to keep me happy. El Tapatio IS GARBAGE.

Maybe, just maybe, I could get work at the shithole Conoco at I25 and arapahoe (is it STILL Dick's Arapahoe whatever??) get a room at the motel 6 dive, and spend my free time waking hours HERE. That would be something to consider.

  • Miss S.

I had their chicken tacos. The filling is way too salty. The salsa and guacamole was good.

  • Alan B.

These guys moved right next door to a Mexican restaurant I've went to for over 20 years. El Parrel. Trying to put them out of business I can only assume. I felt like I was eating a mooshy, salty burrito from Applebee's at this other place. Go next door to El Parrel get some GREAT Mexican food, much better service and far better atmosphere. This place is a disgrace.

  • Dan Z.

One of my favorite Mexican restaurants. Always quick, friendly, and delicious. I recommend the queso blanco and the chili rellenos. Only negative is that the Margaritas taste a little watered down in the giant cups.

  • Richard G.

I stumbled into this place. The hostess was very (extremely) rude to me but the manager immediately took control of the situation and showed us to our table. The manager personally took care of us and we ended up leaving with an extremely positive experience. I plan on returning next time I want Mexican food, which was amazing also!

    (4)
  • Kimberly I.

Ahhhh I love this place. Their green chili is amazing! They have the best cheese enchiladas. They use queso fresco or some white cheese that is melty deliciousness. My friend always gets their quesadilla which is huge and stuffed to the max. If you are hungry... Or straight up starving. This place is the best Mexican in the area. It shares a parking lot with el parral but this place beats any other!

We were craving Mexican food on an Easter Sunday and were so happy to have found El Tapatio since most restaurants were closed. The fish tacos were full of flavor and had the right amount of kick. I would go back again and again. The staff were friendly and very accommodating.

I am not sure why so many reviews are so low, apps, drinks and dinner for two for $50 is a good deal to me. Service was wonderful! The chips and salsa were fantastic, actual salsa that doesn't taste like Pace...thank goodness. Tri Colored chips, perfectly crunchy with just the right amount of salt. Con Queso was OK, better after mixing some of the salsa in it. The top shelf margs were fresh tasting and did not not taste like sweet and sour mix that gives you instant heartburn-they have a good variety of options for margs- they even have one that is 60 oz's! HA! That is insane and no one needs that big of a marg, but could be fun to share with a date! I had the shrimp enchiladas and they were some of the best I have had! Definitely will be back here again!

We went here to try a new Mexican place, close to work etc. I ordered the chili rellenos - they were super small maybe 1 by 3 inch and wrapped instead of battered - very disappointing. They charged me 10.25 for the plate. The table and the menus were dirty with food. The staff was unpleasant - a lot of attitude. We won't be back

This is one of my usual go-to places. I've had breakfast, lunch and dinner here. I try to go when the bartender, Sal, is there too. He's the best bartender there and always makes my drinks perfect. They also have Pacifico on tap. I like seafood, and the ceviche de camarón is some of the best I've had. There are lots of TVs around the bar and restaurant so its a good place to check out sporting events/games.

Came with a group of 7. Walked in and we were seated right away. It took a good 10-15 minutes before our server came to take our order. The service didn't get any better either. When we finally got our food. One persons meal was cold. She didn't want to complain so she kept eating it later to find a HAIR in her food. We finally waved the server over and told him and he took it back and brought a new one out. One would think this item would be removed from our bill. When I asked about it and he brought our bill out (after waiting 10 minutes for someone to walk by so we could ask for it) we noticed he had only taken 1/2 off for her meal. I later told him I didn't think that was right and with attitude he took it back and removed it from the bill. This was not the first time we had been to this location and received horrible service. We will not be back.

The service wasn't at all pleasant. I order a drink with a twist of lime, I get a twist of lemon. I mention this to the guy and he just walks away. Needless to say, the evening got no better. Oh, the food was almost average.

Very good food. The chips and salsa was fine. Fresh salsa. I ordered the #6 combo. It was awesome. Chile relleno very tasty and green chile on top of burrito was wonderful. Enjoyed a few dos Equis at the bar. Nice young lady bartender waited on me. I will be back.

Friends suggested this as a TexMex place for my family of homesick Texans. The food was pretty good with the exception of the salsa and chips. TexMex chips & salsa are traditionally served warm. Service was good. Atmosphere was a bit dingy. Bathrooms were filthy.

Decent.. I am a tex mex guy and being from Houston I had my nose in the air when I walked in. The deets: Salsa was nice, chips were thick and corn, think grocery store bag (the best chips are crispy thin flour hot and fresh) Margarita was large and good, not great (think instant bottle mix). The quesadillas were exactly like an average tex mex place in Houston (better than I expected). Overall Better than I expected being in CO. Service was lackluster, good but uninspired.

Walked in and was greeted and seated quickly by a very nice hostess, after that it was the worst service ever! While seated we noticed a party of 6 complaining that they have not seen their server for a while, ask if he went home. Two other tables in the same section were complaining about not receiving all of their food. We never saw our server, we ordered bar drinks from a busboy that never arrived. After 15 minutes the same host came over to take our order. At that point I asked if they were understaffed and she stated yes. We let her know we were leaving, she apologized. Never saw a manager so they must not want or business.

Went when they first opened, wasn't impressed. Tried it again....still not impressed, this time the service was abysmal. Will not be back.

The food is....ridiculously delicious, AND so fresh! Oh, and I have to mention the staff and their service: so fast and friendly. It was a great experience! ^_^

Happy with the meal and service. Decent Tex Mex food. I am typically not that picky, but the boyfriend is, and he actually liked it. The salsa, with the free salsa and chips, actually had good flavor and a little heat to it. I ordered chicken enchiladas with rice and beans and all had a nice flavor. The boyfriend had a steak combo platter and was very satisfied with the steak and exclaimed that he wished he ordered a bigger portion.

My wife and I love it here. The food is always great as is the service. Always very fast service, very hot, and fresh food. We will keep coming back here as often as we can.

My wife and I just arrived to Denver from Texas, and we were hungry. A friend recommended this place for some excellent Mexican food. My wife got the street tacos, and I got the barbacoa tacos. They were delicious and I was impressed to find real barbacoa so far from home! The service was great, and I recommend this place for some wonderful and authentic Mexican food.

Enjoyed our dinner here. The chips and salsa were good, the salsa was actual homemade Mexican salsa which was delish! I ordered the cheese enchilada plate and my husband ordered the queso fundido, both were very good! The refried beans were different than what I'm used to, seems like they were refried in pork lard for a different flavor, but they were very good, just different than what I'm used to. The service was great, waiters were very attentive. The place was very upbeat and nice and clean. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone visiting the area.

Am not able to judge the food, since they had decided to close early for the night. Sign says open and that they close at 10pm, but the hostess was quick to tell us that they close at 930, 945, depending on the evening. I'll make sure to never recommend to others to find another mexican restaurant.

Bad flavors + overcooked food + served cold = bad meal Add to that I was literally forgotten about multiple times. No one wanted to take my table apparently. The beans had a sour/chocolate aftertaste and it was not pleasant. The relleno was way overcooked. And the plate arrived hot but the food on it was cold. No one ever came by to see how I was doing, no refills, and I've now been waiting for over 15 minutes to pay someone. Anyone. Please get me out of here!

Some of the best in Denver for sure. Guac salad and molcajete combo for date night is awesome plus 60oz margs.

I love this place! I have been to the location on Alameda before, but I am super stoked that there is a location near me now!! The service was impeccable and the food was delicioso! Note to self: order less then you think you want. The servings are massive. The green chile was FABULOUS. And I am a green chile snob. This was the perfect amount of spicy/salty/flavorful warm goodness.

Good bar atmosphere with televisions and good food as well. I liked the traditional Mexican music that they play. I liked that the staff was very nice and friendly. Juan the manager was very nice and professional. We had a great time here. I will definitely return. It's also right next to El Parral but I think this is the better option out of the two.

Mexican food to me, is the peanut butter to your jelly. it's the mac to your cheese. the one thing that keeps me going in life. okay, not THE one thing, but it's high on my priority list. With mexican food on my mind, we decided to try a bite to eat at El Tapatio. After hearing a few friend comment on how good things were, i couldn't turn it down. Here's the breakdown: 1. Staff is friendly, helpful and very quick. 2. Food comes in massive portions [my bf and i shared a fajita meal and took tons home for leftovers!], but isn't the best thing ever. in fact, i was a little disappointed in how generic everything tasted. 3. Margs are good, but filled with ICE. i love a good marg on the rocks with salt, but not when my entire glass is filled with ice rather than booze. uh no. 4. Prices are decent. Not too pricey and pretty good for all that you get! I have to admit, i wasn't blown away with this meal, but did find yummy enough to satisfy my hunger.

Yuck, yuck and yuck! My family of four dined recently at this restaurant. Quality of the food is sub par, sauces are not flavorful, cheese dip was made using velveeta and was orange. Chips and salsa were good, but the rest was not good. Price is high considering quality. Volume is overly generous if you can stomach the food. NEVER to return...

If there was a way to give 0 stars I would. We used to eat here often, but got tired of the terrible service so took about a year off. Went back today and have never regretted something more. If possible the service is even worse, except this time the waiter tried to actually blame me for the cold food, and missing order. After receiving cold food we didn't have the time to wait to complain so started eating, however when my side of lettuce was forgotten it took 15 minutes (while the table next to us easily got a refill of alcoholic beverages)to get someone's attention. The place was busy and I would've understood, had the waiter not come back to tell me that that it didn't matter bc my lettuce is cold, so it would've made it cold anyways. Needless to say, never again, and I suggest the same to you.

UGH. It's not that the food here was bad, it just wasn't that good. The service was even worse. Their english language skills are lacking - and recognizing this is a mexican restaurant I understand that english may not be their first language - but they need to understand some basic food and beverage related words. It was sort of a "sirprise me" kind of thing... you ordered a drink or some food and you just didn't know what would actually arrive at the table. AND you had to ask for it three times AND everything happened at a snail's pace. Fortunately I had good company so the evening wasn't a total waste.

Once again my server was at her best. Even though she's new at bartending she shows great enthusiasm on what she loves as a mixer. The drinks she made were to perfection. Not too strong and not to sweet or bitter. As for the food. I ordered tacos to go with my drinks and the variety was at its best. "Frida" again great job.

First off this isn't the greatest mexican food but it is good. The portions are gigantic! The prices are very cheap too. It's a nice restaurant and the wait staff is very friendly. My wife loves this place. I like to order combo 1. I wouldn't tell someone this place is amazing, but it is good.

Have eaten here many times during my stay at Best Western and can honestly say amazing! Staff is great, food is yummy! My fave is crispy Chili Relleno plate, A+! Salvador is best bartender there is! El Tapatio Margarita is a must! Chips and homemade salsa are fantastic! I highly recommend this place!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
